Suggest Remedies For Persistent Diarrhea

I have had diarrheal real bad for about a month. I have tried anti- diarrheal soft gels and that worked for awhile then it quit working and Imodium A-D liquid which worked for awhile and now I am taking tums that seems to be working the best. However, in the beginning I got dehydrated and it landed me in hospital emergency room and I was low in potassium and was having serious pain in my back and legs. After the potassium tables taken for several days and leg cramp pills that got better and went to dr. And potassium was back up, pain was gone, diarrhea was better only to return. I can t seem to rid of it no matter what I do. I was taking cultural 20 billion Cafu for about week and it seemed to get worse. I must have a bacteria that I can t shake.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it will be gastroenteritis. Consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated. You might require antibiotics for further treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
