Suggest Remedies For Lip Ulcers And Rashes On Chest After Taking Bactrim

I started taking an old perscription of Bactrim because I got a bladder infection and could not get in to see a doctor ...After taking 5 pill over 3 days i woke up with a swollen upper right lip...Feels like an ulcer inside my lip...I also notice to red spots on my back that look like big mosquito bites and a small light rash on my chest so I stopped taking them yesterday morning. No better today...Ulcer on lip seems worse and now have another small ulcer inside my mouth under my tongue. Do I have anything to worry about? Will this all go away in a few days since I stopped the medication?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As you have got oral ulcers along with rashes on other parts of the body that do not hurt, it seems that you have developed an allergic reaction to the medicine or to other substance that you are exposed to but not aware about.

I would advise you to start with antihistamine such as Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5 days. In addition, it is also possible that you have developed Vitamin B Complex deficiency due to antibiotic. Thus, you should start Vitamin B Complex supplements such as B Folcin once a day for about 15 days. You can also apply local Benzocaine gel (Mucopain) over the oral ulcers for the temporary relief and faster healing of the ulcers. You can apply the gel 4-5 times a day especially before meals for painless eating.

If you do not feel better in 5 days, you should contact a physician for the physical examination and further investigations.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
