Suggest Remedies For Heaviness And Pain In The Breasts

I have missed my period by a few days (as in almost a week) my chest is starting to feel heavy and around my nipple area it hurts. I feel like I m having cramps as if my period is coming but never comes. Sometimes I get minor headaches. I took 2 home pregnancy tests and both showed up negative instantly. I am very worried because I also have the permanent birth control Essure. I have 2 beautiful kids and I am done having children. Is there any way you could help me with this problem?

Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.

It is unlikely that you are pregnant as you have the Essure. For complete confirmation that you are not pregnant (as you seem to be very worried about this), you can get a serum beat HCG test done. This is a blood test and it measures the pregnancy hormone. In non-pregnant women beta HCG is negligible. If you are not pregnant you could either wait patiently for the period to come, or take a progesterone tablet for a week or so and then wait for the with drawl bleed.

Delayed period can happen for no apparent reason. If these delayed periods happen once in a long while, you may not worry about them. If your period gets delayed every time and you want to know the cause, you could see your gynaecologist and ask for hormonal profile test.

Regarding the heaviness and pain in your breasts, it is due to effect of hormones on your breasts. You could take a mild painkiller like Ibuprofen 200-400 mg three times a day, along with food, (i hope you are not allergic to it and that you had this tablet before without much problem). You could also take paracetamol 500 mg- 1000 mg three-four times a day. Once your period comes, your breast symptoms would settle down.If breast symptoms do not settle down even after your next period kindly see your doctor.
I hope this answer has helped you.

Thank you
