Suggest Remedies For VRE Infection

My mother has VRE and more than likely got in from the hospital. We asked for an investigation to be done but not sure if it will be pursued. From what I understand my mother with have the bacteria for the rest of her life. Can this be life threatening?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, she needs to have a sensitivity profile of the bacteria but most likely it will respond to linezolid or tigecycline. She needs opinion of infectious diseases specialist as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
