Suggest Possible Treatments For Esophageal Stricture

Sir, 1& 1/2 yr ago My 3 1/2 Yrs old child has accidently intake of 80 % concentrated KOH drops. We consulted nearby hospital and confirmed nothing has gone inside. My child started to take liquid foods and gradually light solid foods like bread & noodles. After 6 months he started to reject the foods and started to vomit and ended in drop feeding. We consulted Pediatrics surgeon in All India Institute of India . The y confirmed he is suffering from esophageal stricture and he is admitted in hospital for RG dilatation .The following operations have done a)esophageo scopy-tight stricture-only 12# AG dilatation done b)Laparotomy -Gastrostomy done c)RG dilatation-up to 18# d)RG threading. He has under gone 08 dilatations after the first one. After every dilatations we used to get 15 to 20 days as normal. After that he starts to vomit solids along with some fluids like saliva. Sir,I would be very thankful to u if u suggest any alternative treatment for early recovery with regards Shamsudheen

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for your son's symptoms and I would like to assure you that the treatment going on at AIIMS is the best possible one as of now please.

But if he is failing to thrive you may discuss the option of Gastrostomy please.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Sumanth Amperayani, Pediatrician, Pulmonology
