hi my friend has just aquired 4 pills the pystotic ones she is 4 weeks pregnant and plans to take them, she is living in Asia and im concerned for her.
What if this does not stop the pregnancy and damage the baby? will the baby be born with defects and or what will happen

Tab. Mifepristone and Tab. Misoprostol are good medicines for terminating pregnancy up to 9 weeks of gestation. However they should be taken by Obstetrician's advice and prescription. They are not 'over the counter' medicines.
These medicines are quite safe and reliable. However, if they fail to terminate the pregnancy, there are chances of abnormal development of the baby. Hence in such event, the pregnancy should not be continued and terminated by surgical evacuation of the uterus.
After taking the medicines, usually within 24 hours but not alter than 7 days the process of abortion starts. It is complete within 24 hours. If the bleeding continues, or otherwise after 7 days it is advisable to visit Obstetrician. The completeness of the abortion can be ascertained by ultrasonography.
