Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns. In a newly diagnosed diabetes type 2, If i were your treating doctor, i would suggest Diet and exercise management first for up to 2-3 months with regular sugar level monitoring every two weeks. If the sugar levels are under control with this , the same is continued as long as sugar levels are under control with regular sugar levels monitoring every 1-2 months. You can discuss this with your treating doctor. Secondly, If the sugar levels are not under control after 2-3 months, then I prescribe anti diabetic drug of minimal dose to optimum until sugar levels are controlled, once dose is set, then the same is continued.
