Suggest Medication For Swelling In Left Forefinger After Dog Bite

I recently had an incident with a Pit Bull. I was bit at, but he only managed to break my skin. Blood was drawn. I put some antibiotic ointment on the area (my left forefinger) and at first the area swelled, then the swelling stopped. Now there's a pang in my finger every now and then. I know dogs can carry staph and e. coli in their saliva. Should I be looking out for symptoms of anything? I'm worried.

Thanks for posting on HealthCareMagic. Please remember that rabies is a lethal disease that can be carried by any infected mammal (dog included) and therefore it is not safe to leave out on the rabies immunisation.
Dogs can contain staph, e coli and many other organisms in their saliva which may infect you and cause septicemia which would be manifested by fever. So look out. Swelling due to localised infection may also occur.

Hope that helps. Feel free to revert back in case of further queries if any.
