Swelling of the food pipe can mean an inflammation caused either by repeated vomiting or simply a stomach virus. You need to give him simple, easy to swallow and digest kind of food, such as soft rice with curds (yoghurt), milk, bananas, etc, which can be tolerated even with an acidic stomach. Allow this way for a week, during which time the swelling will return to normal.
