hello doc I am 17 years old and didn t had any type of sexual contact. since last 3 weeks i am having mild itching on labia majora and i rubbed it after some days it was bit more frequently and started irritating me during my classes and sleep. but now even my minora is equally itchy and last night i just went on scratching uncontrollably and next morning i felt it was dry and as if it was teared when i opened my leg. but when i went to bath i saw no injuries or scales but my both labia were swollen to double and i know it was my scratching which did it but i cant help. it covered my clitoris and was layered due to swelling. i never had such problem before. about the discharge i must say the color has not changed but it has increased. i usually wear cotton undergar but i stopped wearing it till my periods are cming. help me know what it is. I am a bio student preparing for medical so i studied lot about STDs but that not the case i know.... HELP Mee!!!!!!!!

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

According to your information, it could be due to yeast infection (fungal), sweating, dermatitis, tight clothing, pantyhose, g-strings, allergic reaction to bath products etc.

Do complete blood count and STD profile to pinpoint the diagnosis.

Treatment: 1) Use 1% hydrocortisone cream over labia majora and clitoral part. Oral Fluconazole tab may need to take to eliminate fungal infection.

2) Wear loose fitting pants and avoid tight fitting jeans, pants, g-strings.

3) Bathing in bicarbonate of soda - Bathe your vulva once or twice a day for 5-10 minutes in a basin or bath.

4) Don’t use perfumed soaps and bath products. Use 100% cotton sanitary pads and tampons.

5) Lean forward when passing urine - this helps to avoid burning or itching and always wipe or pat from front to back.

6) Maintain genital hygiene properly. Wear clean and cotton underwear. Keep the area always dry.

Hope, it helps for you. Take care and Be well.
