Suggest Medication For Dry Cough,running Nose And Redness In Eyes

Hello, my 2 year old has had a cough for the last 3 days sounds dry and also sounds like it hurts him a lot. He coughs so much he gags also has a runny nose and his eyelids are red not inside just around his eye. Fever wise it comes and goes but at night he is a lot worse. Cough worsens. Do you know what this could be?

Hello, there are several possibilities for these symptoms. A dry cough may be related to wheezing, a high pitched sound related to constriction of the airways. Asthma may worsen at night. Post nasal drip- mucus from the nose running to the back of the throat may also cause a cough, but it tends not to be dry, but may worsen at night. If the eyelids are very puffy and red, he should be seen immediately for evaluation of a condition called cellulitis, an infection of the tissue around the eye. Continue to monitor his temperature for spikes 101 or more. It is also important to see the doctor to ensure that he does not have pneumonia or whooping cough.
