my son have diarhea for 4 days now, no fever his eating and drinking pedialyte,soup. his passing stool 3-4 times a day like with mucoid. do i need to give antibiotic now?what types of antibiotic must i give?

Hi,

Passing of stool in pediatric age group (3 to 4 times) is normal one and it may not needs any treatment, antibiotic should always be avoided because it is being given in state of infection (Bacteria ). It should be proved and then it can be given. Here in your case the passing of stool may not be due to infection but it could be due to diet given and the mucus might due to that only. At the most, Lyophilized Lactobacillus sachets can be tried twice in day. Take care for hydration, else it is nothing to worry.
