Suggest Medication For Acute Pain In The Neck

My Dr. is lowering my synthroid meds. from 300 mg. to 250 mgs. the back of my neck hurts and is a little swollen. It feels like when you sleep the wrong way at night, an your neck hurts. My neck hurt so bad when I was at the Mall, I had to stop. until my neck stop hurting.

Welcome to HCM ,

Understanding your concern .As per your query you have acute pain in the neck . Well it is very important to find out the exact cause of neck pain and correct it . Neck pain can occur due to may reasons like muscle strains , nerve compression , Injuries ,diseases, cervical spondolysis and Certain diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper diagnosis . Doctor will examine physically , ask you to do certain movements and may order CT scan . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant and may recommend specific exercises . For now do stretching exercises and start physical therapy of neck .The neck pain can also occur due to sore throat , consult ENT specialist for this . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory along with antibiotics .
