Suggest Management Of Lung Cancer With Pleural Effusion
a family member has stage 4 lung cancer and has had it for about a year now, just recently(saturday february 5th 2011) he was hospitalized due to his inability to breathe, he was diagnosed with fluid in his lungs, they gave him 3 breathing treatments and none helped him. he has basically lost all hope of living and we dont know what to do.

Your family member is suffering from stage 4 lung cancer.
Treatment at this stage consist of palliative chemotherapy and basic supportive care.
Since he is having fluid in his lungs i would recommend he gets a chest drain put in his lungs so that whenever the fluid accumulates it will drain off inside a bag outside his lungs.
