Suggest Dosage For Synthroid

Hello, I have been taking naturethroid for 15 years - 2 tablets. Decided on advice of doc to switch to synthroid. TSH was 10.8 before switch. Doc put me on 50mcg of synthroid and after 5 weeks TSH was 25.8. Given this information, what dosage of synthroid would you recommend?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In my opinion you are using under dose of synthyroid and with current rise in TSH, it's better to gradually increase it, initially for two weeks as 100 microgram and if no palpitations or fast heart rate etc are experienced, can be raised to150 microgram with TSH monitoring alongside.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
