Your doctor will want you on a statin drug. But you asked about a meal plan: Total Cholesterol: optimal is 180 mg/dl; doctors don't look at total they look more at ldl, hdl and triglycerides. To increase your HDL of 46 to a value greater than 50 mix cardio with strength training a minimum of 150 minutes per week with dr. clearance, eat more omega 3s by fish or supplements. This is the preferred diet distribution: Total fat intake 27%; 5-6%saturated fat; 15-18% lean protein and 55-59% high fiber carbohydrate. Fibers such as from oats, lentils and psyllium will decrease blood fats. Eliminate Trans fats to target LDL cholesterol. These are the latest 2014 American Heart Association and the ACC guidelines. There is also insufficient evidence to decrease dietary cholesterol, a new recommendation. Good luck!
