Suggest Diet For Burning In Upper Abdomen, Flatus And Burping

Age 78yrs,5'4",57 kg, acute burning in upper abdomen, flatulence and burping, not relieved with Pantop 40, completed PantocidHP (claithromycin-500mg,amoxcillin 750mg,pantoprozole40mg) 1 week course completed. Pl. advise post-treatment investigations and dietary control. Thanks, Goswamy

Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Acute burning in upper abdomen in a 78 year old patient not responded to Pantop or Pantop HP kit and also having flatulence and burping is indicative of the following problems:
Associated GERD that is Gastroesophageal reflux disease and intestinal problems should be searched for.
You have not mentioned about upper GI Endoscopy hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Upper GI Endoscopy.
Barium swallow and meal studies.
Tests of stool, blood and urine.
CT scan of abdomen.
Clinical evaluation by a Gastroenterologist.
All these things will give a proper diagnosis and proper management.
Continue antop.
Add on Domperidone and antacids, antibiotic active against intestinal infection and so on should help you further .
