Suggest Cause For Tonsil Stones In Tonsil Crypts?

The upper pallet and back of my throat are yellowish in color with many red veins. I also have what I found are called tonsil stones lodged in the tonsil crypts. I keep good care of my teeth, brush everyday and regularly use mouthwash. What could be the problem?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain yellowish appearance of the throat with red veins can be due to inflammation of throat secondary to throat infection which can be bacterial or viral in nature..
Tonsil stones are calcified structures formed by calcification of food debris and dust over the tonsil crypts and is one of a potent cause for inflammation of tonsils and causing infection in throat..
Nothing to worry consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and in case if there is inflammation in throat he can advise you to take antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles and do steam inhalations.

For tonsil stones you can remove it gently using a q-tip and if not able to remove the physician can remove it..
Always gargle after eating anything to prevent food lodgement..
Limit the intake of dairy products as it is high in calcium and can increase tonsil stone formation..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
