Suggest Cause For Nausea, Loos Of Appetite In Patients With IUD

Hello, lately I have been feeling nauseas, tired and with a decrease in appetite. I am a 32 year old female and these symptoms are very familiar to when I was pregnant. However, I am not pregnant per the test and I have an IUD. What else could be wrong?

Hello and welcome to HCM,

Failure rate of IUDs is low, however, there is potential but low risk of pregnancies with IUDs.
The pregnancy associated with IUD is usually tubal.
So, I would suggest you to take up a urine pregnancy test as well as ultrasound of pelvic organs.
The urine pregnancy test may be positive, weakly positive or negative even in the presence of pregnancy.
This is because the level of HCG is not as high as seen in uterine pregnancy.
If pregnancy is found, it has to be terminated because tubal pregnancy is usually associated with rupture in due course of time.
If no pregnancy is detected, other causes of these symptoms have to be found.

Thanks and take care
