Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am ;87 years old, and have had a stom;ach tube for two years, no swallowing. I am depressed, so the doctor put me on citalopram 20 mg. (generic for celexa) The first tablet, crushed and put in my stomach tube made me very nauseated for 24 hours. I havenn t taken one today. I took the first one yesterday. Should I try to take it?
Some alternatives to this drug are:
Prozac (fluoxetine) Paxil (paroxetine) Zoloft (sertraline) Cymbalta (duloxetine) Effexor (venlafaxine) However, they are "Prescription only" drugs.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family Physician
