Suffering From Severe Cough. Report Shows Clear Lungs, Pleural Thickening. What Does Rest Of Report Mean?
Both lung fields clear, Right CP angle clear, Blunted left CP angle with flattened left dome of diaphragm - pleural thickening, Rib case is normal Soft tissues are normal. AFB smear : no AFB seen (SPUTAM) CREATINE - 0.9 CBC - RBC Normocytic normochronic WBC Eosinophilia+ (CBC remain normal)
My mother is suffering with severe caugh since 2 months, the above are the medical test results. What would be the issue? Is it any serious issue? CT scan reports not yet come.
With Chest X ray findings: Both lung fields clear, Right CP angle clear, Blunted left CP angle with flattened left dome of diaphragm - pleural thickening, Rib case is normal Soft tissues are normal. It means that there might be little thickening of pleural membrane in the left chest bas. It may also result from a small amount of watery fluid. CT scan will further confirm this.
AFB smear : no AFB seen (SPUTAM) CREATINE - 0.9 CBC - RBC Normocytic normochronic WBC Eosinophilia+ (CBC remain normal)
AFB, Creatine and Complete blood count are essentially normal except for eosinophilia which may be due to allergy.
Finally it is to be seen in CT scan report if there is fluid in chest base of only thickening. CT scan will also tell in any lymphnodes are enlarged in the mediastinum region.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. After going through X ray report it is clear that your mother is a case of THICKENED PLEURA . This may be due to many reasons as tuberculosis is one of them. You have not attached the report of E S R . Anyhow , if E S R is more than 70 mm of Hg , diagnosis is sure. May be due to friction. carcinoma . If possible upload X Ray report. Good luck. Dr. HET
