Suffered Ear And Sinus Infection. Pain In The Throat. Is It Acid Reflux Or Upper Respiratory Infection?
i just got over an ear infection and sinus infection. I took amoxicilin to help. Now i went back to the doctor because my throat was hurting i couldnt eat anything and drinking even cold water burned. They said it was a upper respiratory infection and that i was having acid reflux. Well my soar throat soreness has literally gone away within a couple days and now i am still having trouble with the burning in my esophagus and stomach. I dont think it is heartburn. What could it be?
Hi, Thanks for posting your query. With the available described symptoms, there could be possibility of gastro-esophageal reflux disease with upper respiratory tract infection superimposed on GERD induced injury. You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ gastroenterologist and should go for thorough check up. You should also consult with ENT surgeon. You should go for complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, ultrasound imaging, blood sugar, thyroid profile, and serum electrolytes, renal function test. You should also go for endoscopy and urea breathe test for H. Pylori. You should take complete antibiotic therapy, decongestants, proton pump inhibitors along with prokinetics. Take soft diet along with yogurt and banana. Take care, Dr. Mayank Bhargava
