Stopped Taking Glumetza For Diabetes. Started Glimperide But No Effect. Do Not Want Insulin Shot.

I was taking Glumetza for diabetes and it was keeping my levels good but doctor said it was affecting my kidney so had to get off it. The put me on Glimperide and I am alright during the day but morning reading is 130-166. I thought taking 4 mg. of the pill before bed. My question is why can't I get a medication that will work for me? The doctor is talking about putting me on insulin shot at night before bed I don't want no shot hate them and my diabetes is never over 190 even after eating. Can you help I need to find something that will work so no shot required. Thanks

Hi and thanks for this query.
I am sorry to hear you have been having some difficulties getting your fasting blood sugar controlled. I know the thought of having daily insulin shots is scary. But if this the only best option, then we may consider doing so.

There is a medication that works for you. We have not just landed on it yet and beside, insulin could be that medication.

Before getting you on insulin, let him try t give you the maximum dose of this oral drug first. If it doesn't work, let him add another drug or try a different oral drug. If after manipulating all the possible oral drugs/combination possible for you and nothing seems to work, then please bear with him and get the insulin for adequate controls.

Hope you find this helpful and serves as a guide to navigate and get the problem sorted out. If it means insulin is the final best option, please accept it.
Wish you good health.
