Stopped Amitriptyline And Started Zoloft. Have Itchiness. Could I Have Got Mite Infestation From Pigs?

Hi - I had been on amitriptyline for about 30 years. Have recently come off it slowly and went onto Zoloft. Everything seemed ok until i became very itchy and antihistamine does not help at all. Am wondering whether it is a side effect of one of the drugs but am also worried that my pet guinea pigs have mites and these mite infestation has already killed one of the guinea pigs. Could I also be able to contact mites from the pigs. The itch is so bad it keeps me awake at night - I do not seem to have a rash with the itch but my skin bleeds where I scratch all the time.

Hi, you have been on amytryptiline for 30 years, stopped it and had zoloft. you became itchy, antihistamines didn't help. You got guineapigs, with infestation of mites.
As you correctly suspected it might be the infestation of mites.
Or it could be infection by fungus.
I to my patients with such problem prescribe permethrine soap and lotion, with anti fungal tablets, for complete relief.
If it is due to some drugs it will be with bulges and erythema. (utricaria) Thank you.
