HELLO, I,VE HAD A STOMACH ACHE FOR TWO DAYS. I HAVE DIARRHEA AND BLACK STOOL . I AM 61 YEARS OLD, WITH BASICALLY NO MEDICAL HISTORY. COULD THIS BE FOOD POISONING? I HAVE BEEN BELCHING A LOT TOO. I VE ALWAYS BEEN A MILK DRINKER SO I THOUGHT SOME MILK WOULD SOOTHE MY STOMACH. BUT IT SEEMED TO HAVE AN ADVERSE EFFECT. WHAT DOES THE BLACK STOOL INDICATE? THANK YOU, JIM

Hi,
Black stool sometimes indicates bleeding in upper G-I tract, but in your case history suggests infective diarrhea. Milk is often contaminated with staph. Go for a stool examination, plenty of ORS should be taken, course of antibiotic is necessary, consult your physician.
