Sprained Ankle, X-rays Show Nothing. Swelling Still, Throbs. Is This Normal ?
Sprained my ankle 1 month ago and X-rays were taken, nothing broken. My ankle is still swollen and throbs lately at night and I haven't even been on it much. I have been working registration at school and been sitting in a chair about 5 hours of the day so my ankle has been getting a lot of rest.. Should I go back to the doctor or is this normal. I was not told to wrap it, just exercise it by doing the alphabet with my foot.
i would suggest u continue the advice given by your doc..resting the affected limb is a must but along with that u need to perform some simple exercises to prevent a state called dis-use atrophy where your muscle functions deteriorate if its not put much into action..i would also suggest u to not massagesprained ankle with topical pain killers vigorously..its better u use elastic crepe bandage and wrap it around your ankle not too tight and for pain u might need to take some good painkillers with less side effects...and if the state worsens or no improvement for more than 2 weeks i would suggest u meet an orthopadician
