Sour Metallic Odor Inside Vagina. Going Through Menopause, No Ovaries. Any Ideas?

I am 48 year old female and am going through menopause. I only have my ovaries so I have no periods. One change I have noticed over the last few months is a sour metallic odor inside my vagina. I used to never have an odor. Not even after sex. I am wondering if this is because of not enough estrogen anymore and the vagina not flushing itself since it's so dry now. Not sure how to fix this embarrassing problem. Any ideas? I have an appointment to see a Gyn tomorrow.

Hello,

It may be due to atrophic vaginitis in association with vaginal infection. Here, you need to undergo one pelvic examination after consultation with your doctor. Vaginal swab test is quite useful.

These type of cases are treated with vaginal suppository at bed time along with local application of estradiol cream/ water based lubricant. Maintain genital hygiene properly.

Good luck.
