Sore Throat, Yellow Pus On Swollen Left Tonsil, White Streaks On Throat After Taking Phenoxymethylpenicillin Potassium For Tonsillitis

I have been taking phenoxymethyl penicillin potassium since Friday late afternoon for what my doctor diagnosed over the phone as tonsilitis.. Due to the fact that I had been getting flu like symptoms in the body on and off for six weeks with no other symptoms.. apart from this current episode where I now have a sore throat and appearance of yellow pus on a swollen left tonsil.. My sore throat has become excruciating and worsened since Friday, This morning I looked with a torch at my throat and there are white streaks and patches on the actual back of the throat not the tonsils, though they are swollen and red with a couple of yellow dots, is this normal ie symptoms of strep throat or thrush caused by the body's reaction to antibiotics?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Yes, according to your symptoms and signs, you seem to have what is called acute follicular tonsillitis. Your symptoms should have been improved by now, because you are taking injections. But, it doesn't seems to working.
The solution is to change antibiotics. An antibiotic of quinolones or cephalosporins may help you. Consult your doctor for detailed check up and treatment
