Sore throat, running nose, headaches. Taking cough syrup, honey drinks. H3N2 viral infection?

I have had flu symptoms for the past 7-8 weeks, with sore throat , chesty cough, runny nose, headaches, tiredness. Have been to my GP twice and all he can say to me is that is a Virus and give me tons of pills & antibiotics. Its really getting me down. I am from xxx & apparently there is a H3N2 Flu virus spreading through the country. What is this? What do u recommend? I am taking cough syrup , cough lollies, lemon & honey drinks & nothing seems to help. Thanks

Hello dear

Thanks for your query

You are having Upper Respiratory tract infection, most chances are its viral infection but may be bacterial too.Swine flu is also a viral infection caused by a kind of Influenza virus.

Do warm saline gurgling four times daily for a week.
Take Vit C 500mg tablet once daily for a week. Eat plenty of citrous fruits.
Have plenty of fluids.

Take Paracetamol 500mg tablet twice daily for 3 days and thereafter sos
Take Levocetrizine 5mg tablet twice daily for 5 days
Take CoAmoxiclav 625 mg tablet thrice daily for 5 days.
Have a throat swab culture sensitivity done if possible.

Real-time RT-PCR is the method of choice for diagnosing H1N1.
Oseltamivir and zanamivir are used for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with swine influenza viruses; however, the majority of people infected with the virus make a full recovery without requiring medical attention or antiviral drugs

But dont self medicate.Get a clinical checkup from your doctor and take his advice.

Hope this helps

Update here how you stay.

Take care :)
