Hi and thanks for the query,
it could be important to know if you generally experience allergies or not, or if this this is your first experience. secondly, do you have recurrent sore throats? has a throat culture been done before, and what were the results and treatment prescribed?
It would be very necessary necessary to get a clinical evaluation done. Depending on the size of your tonsils and the state, in case of recurrent throat infections, surgical removal of these tonsils could be advised. A throat swab and culture could determine exactly the causative organism and specific antibiotic that could be used against it.
A could allergic history inquiry and evaluation would determine whether you deserve long term anti allergic drugs. The particular exacerbating or allergic trigger if identified and avoided could go a long way to reduce the number of episodes.
I suggest you book an appointment with an ENT specialist for a proper evaluation and management.
Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
