Sore Throat. Roof Of Mouth Hurts On Swallowing. Taking Sudafed To Drain Sinus. Cause Of Pain?

hi, I have a sore throat. it s not strep I was already tested but it feels as if the roof of my mouth the top palate has gotten harder and almost formed a lump, and when I swallow the roof of my mouth hurts so bad. It s not my throat anymore. I was taking sudafed to drain my sinuses but I haven t taken it yet today. could it be my sinuses draining and collecting fluid above the roof of my mouth causing the pain? I really need it to go away as soon as possible

Thanks for writing to H.C.M. for query.
I have gone through your query regarding pain on swallowing and swelling of palate looking like a lump. You are in doubt that our sinuses are just above the palate , So I would like to clear you that above the palate lies our nasal cavity and only the alveolar border (teeth shocket ) of palate forms the floor of maxillary sinuses.
The possiblities in your case are-
(1) Palatal cellulitis or abscess.
(2) Ectopic salivary gland.
To confirm yu have to do M.R.I. of paranasal sinuses and palate which will confirm the diagnosis and that may be treated accordingly.
