Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been ill for two weeks, with flu like symptions ie really sore muscles and back/neck pain and had thought that I was on the mend, only to be knocked out of action again. This time my throat is raw and my voice box crackly and faint. I
'm incredibly tired and headachey ie. eyes sore and vision swirly!! my chest is a little tight and I have a dry cough. Do I sit it out or could I possibly have a lowgrade infection? I had thought that the first two weeks was more like a virus than infection, but now i'm feeling dreadfull again!!
Hi there, Welcome to HCM. You seem to have a bacterial infection of the throat which has occurred superimposed on the viral illness. That is the reason antibiotics are prescribed during viral infections to prevent superinfection by bacteria. I suggest you get in touch with your GP for a complete course of antibiotics and analgesics for your sore throat and headache. Salt water gargling will help soothe the throat ache. Avoid cold food and water. Drink warm water and fluid diet is recommended. Rest is must and I assure you, you will feel better in 2-3 days. Thanks.
