Smooth, Red, Tender Spot On The Penis With No Itching. Could It Be A Herpes?

Hi, I've had this smooth spot on the side of my penis. It has been there for a few months and is slightly red but often doesn't look noticeable at all. After sex however, it become much redder and tends to feel tender. I have done research and I don't believe it is herpes as it hasn't popped up anywhere else and has been around for a while. The spot doesn't itch, puss, and doesnt look like a blister. It looks like when you get a mat burn and your skin is smooth, somewhat red, and tender. Any idea what this could be and how to fix it?

HI,
Thanks for writing in.

You might not be having warts if it is not itching and not in clusters. A diagnosis of herpes is also ruled out because it is not burning and it is only a single lesion. It is unlikely to be any other STD because it is constant for a few months and there is no associated discharge.

This could be a Fordyce spot on the penile shaft. It is rarely seen as a single lesion but appears the way described by you, there is increase in size after sex and it becomes red and tender due to friction. This is a benign harmless condition. I suggest that you please consult a dermatologist and get yourself examined to confirm diagnosis.

Hope this helps
