Small Child, Viral Fever, Applying Water Strip, No Relief. Taken Meftal Syrup. Continue Second Dose?

Hello Dr, My daughter(age 5.5 yr) has high fever and the Dr. diagnosised it as viral fever and has prescribed her Meftal syrup. We have given her last dose 5.5 hours ago and again she got 102.5 underarm temperature. Can we give her another dose? We are doing normal water strip on her forehead but the temp is not coming down.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

Meftal can be given three to four times a day and can be repeated after 6-8 hours of the previous dose. Any medicine to bring down the fever shall reduce the temperature till its effect lasts. I would suggest that you sponge the whole body with luke warm or tap water to reduce the temperature.

Viral fever will take its own course to come to normal and you need to have patience.
