Small Child, Stomach Pain, Hard Stools, Irregular Bowels. Prescribed Cremafin. Remedies For Symptoms?

My 2yrs 6 month old baby frequently complains on stomach ache, most of the time while having food and at time of sleeping.she also have irregular bowls and tools are very hard with small quantity. Doctors adviced it because of gas and indigestion prescibed cremafin syrup a tools softner for 5days, but still no use. Anyone advice best solution on this situation

Hi

For her irregular bowel habits and hard stools:
- Give her plenty of water and other fluids- like fresh fruit juices, Vegetable soups
- Give her plenty of fruits and vegetables.
- Give her whole grain food
- Avoid junk food, cow`s milk, potato and other high protein/ high fat food.
These should be followed routinely in her diet.
With these you may give the stool softener.
If she passes soft stools with these, its fine. Else you must speak to your doctor again for any adjustment of dosage or frequency.
Duphalac (Lactulose) is more safe and non habit forming compared to Cremaffin. Hence can be used for some time safely.
You may discuss with your doctor regarding this.

For her tummy aches- you may try some enzyme preparations like Neopeptine for about 2 weeks.
