Small Child, Fever, Irritation. Taken Flu Vaccine. Family History Of Sinus Infection. Cure?
I have a10 month 3 week old F, who today started with fussiness and a fever, 101.3 rectal about an hour ago. She received the second half of her flu vaccine this past Wednesday. Everyone in the family has sinus congestion with an occassional cough. I am a nurse on a post partum unit and we inform mothers to call the pediatrician for a fever above 100.4, what is the temperature I should call her pediatrician for?
Hi
Thanks for your query,
The fever seems to be viral in nature as you mentioned everyone in family has cold and cough.and will take couple of days to settle.
I suggest you to give paracetamol every 6 hourly till fever is more than 100F.give her plenty of fluids, coconut water, fruit juices and semisolid food which she is taking routinely so as to boost her immune status.
In case symptoms persist get her evaluated by pediatrician for proper management
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
As your child is having fever, you can contact the Pediatrician. Core temperature more than 100 degree F is fever and you can call her Pediatrician and he will look into the focus of infection and do evaluation accordingly.
In mean time you can give Tylenol in prescribed dosage for fever.
Hope i have answered your query.
Hello I have gone through your complaints. Your child might a viral episode as your family members are suffering from it. You can give paracetamol for your child and just observe for two days. If your child becomes sick by loosing appetite and if the fever is associated any chills and rigors , then you need to attend your doctor. The temperature range is not specific to attend your doctor. Always do cold sponging and give paracetamol when ever your child suffers from fever and even then if se is no responding then you need to Akers the opinion of your doctor.
Thank you. Good day
