Slight Right Shoulder Pain, Distinct Right Clavicle Protrusion, Swelling In Shoulder Area. Coronary Bypass Surgery Done. Advise?

Hi,
My husband dob 8/8/38 had coronary bypass surgery on 1/3/13 which was successful. However, he has experienced some small amount of pain in the right shoulder for the past few weeks. We showed the home healthcare nurse at that time and she added some shoulder exercises to his routine. Today while showering he noticed a distinct protrusion of the right clavicle and swelling in the shoulder area. The right side shoulder and clavicle look very different from the left. Pain is not present at this time, however, he is not doing any strenuous work at this time. I called his surgeon's office but so far have not heard back. What to do and what is occurring?
Thank you Diane Kellogg

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

It sounds like an Orthopaedic problem and seems to have no relation to the heart or the surgery. He has to be examined by a bone specialist. Usually MRI is necessary in such situations. Degeneration, dislocation, infection, inflammation and so on are the usual underlying causes..
     Discuss with your doctor...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
