Slight Pain In Shin While Moving, Tightening, Turning Black, Blue And Reddish. History Of Hard Hit In Shin Followed By Bruising Sharp Pain. Help
I got hit hard in the shin in football practice. It was a sharp hard bruising pain for about ten minutes. On top of that I have bad shin splints. I toughed it out for a week now and made it threw practice today with slight pain. I get home after practice and it tightened up turned more black and blue and reddish. Its warm and very tight. It hurts when I try to move it up and down. I iced elevated and took 1 800 ib. What can this be? My mom thinks its a fracture with something with tissue. Hematoma as well
I have a game tomorrow and have to play Its scaring me.
its seems like blood collection in the joint it could be fracture as well..for this u need to get an xray done..till then i suggest you rest your limb completely and donot massage the affected limb with topical pain killers..just apply them if you have sever pain..take oral tramadol for 2-3 times but i recommend you to take an orthopaedician opinion..you need good bed rest dont put weight on affected limb
Based on the description, I suspect that you could have suffered a Subperiosteal hematoma (blood clot under the outerlayer of bone) which will be very painful to touch.
It generally resolves spontaneously with the following measures -
* Rest to the injured part and avoid involving in activities that causes pain. * Ice packing should be applied for about 20 minutes once in every 2 hours for the first 48 hours * Use elastic compression bandage around the swollen area * Elevation of the limb * Analgesic & anti inflammatory medications as needed
If your symptoms are not resolving with the above measures, consult an orthopedic surgeon for further workup and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
