Shoulder MRI Shows Lymph Nodes Of Axilla. Had DCIS In Breast. Have Breast Implants. Should I Be Concerned?

An mri of my shoulder showed subcentimeter lymph nodes of the left axilla, increased in size compared to the prior study . I recently had (non invasive) DCIS in my right breast and the first three lymph nodes were removed and pathology came back negative for cancer. I have breast implants as a result of a mastectomy with reconstruction and mastopexy for symmetry in my left breast. Needless to say, I am quite concerned about this - should I be?

Hi,
The subcentimeter lymphnodes in left axilla is increasing in size, so you need frequent regular followup with your doctor as you already had cancer on same side. According to me the DCIS on right breast needs a surgery, because you have a past history of cancer in the opposite breast. Depending on the surgical specimen pathology report you may need radiotherapy and harmonal therapy. The lymphnodes are usually negative in DCIS.
