Should The Nexplanon Implant Be Removed While Experiencing Heavy Bleeding During Menstruation?
My daughter had the nexplanon inserted on Oct 4th, 2018. She had her period just before the implant and now has had her period for the last week with increased bleeding changing her tampon about every hour. Is there something that she can take to help regulate her period better or does she need to have the nexplanon removed and something else?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
If she had inserted Nexplanon immediately after her periods. She need not remove it with bleeding as bleeding irregularity is side effect of the hormone inbuilt in Nexplanon. Let her take rest. Drink sufficient water. Have light nourishing food. Take over the counter medicine.
CVP Gynae 2 caps three times a day after food. Bleeding would be controlled in few days. But she had it any time in her cycle. The possibility of conception before implantation of Nexplanon needs to be excluded. She should see her doctor for that for examination and follow the instructions after that.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
