Should Ice Packs Be Continued For Swollen Eye After Injury?

My father and I are traveling and are stuck near Biloxi MS due to ice. Earlier today he slipped on ice. He hit his face on a since walk. The frame of his glasses hit in the brow area pretty hard. Above his eye is very swollen and black and blue. His eye is swollen shut.
Because of the icy conditions we wonder if we should continue with the ice packs or try to get to an ER. His is not having any symptoms like head ache or nausea. He is 91 but very healthy and able for his age.

Hello
It seems from the history that your father had sustained a injury following which he is having swelling of the eye lids.
The swollen eyelids are probably because of collection of blood in the layers of skin around the eyelids. This will take 3 to 4 weeks for resolution by absorption.
Application of cold compress hastens recovery, hence you need to continue cold compression.

Thank you
