Hello,

I think you are referring to the Mirena. The mirena is an intrauterine device that goes into your uterus thru the cervix and is used for contraception and for heavy bleeding.

It will provide contraception and at the same time help with your heavy cycles.

It typically doesn't have systemic side effects like an oral contraception (because it works locally in the uterus to thin the lining down) You said your lining was thick at 19mm.

It can be left in place for 5 years and you could have it removed and get pregnant right away.

Some folks can have systemic side effects but that is rare. The biggest complaint is discomfort when inserted and as it thins down the lining of the uterus you can have some spotting sometimes daily.

Usually the spotting only lasts 3 months and then you may have light cycles or no cycle. It is important you follow up with your doctor to further discuss and evaluate your problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
