Should I Go For An Abortion In Case Of Blighted Ovum?
Hi Doctor,my lmp was 5th june..The cycle just changed in may from 26th of every month to 5th and i skipped periods in april.i got pregnancy in julyon 13th the doctor saw the gestational sac for the first time as iwas getting cramps.Then the yolk sac on 24th jULy .The subsequent scan after this could not show the fetal pole.They concluded i have blighted ovum with yolksac.Now i am being given fertigyn 5000 and sustan along with vageston 200.please advice as one doc suggested me to have an abortion done.I amnot suffering from any bleeding or cramps yet.

Understand your concern
Pregnancy is not possible in case of blighted ovum .You have to abort the pregnancy or it will abort by itself.
In blighted ovum only fertilized ovum stuck to the uterine wall but no development of embryo due to mostly chromosomal problem in one/both partner.
Better to go for abortion by D& C or by mifepristone plus misoprostol under the observation of gynecologist.
It happens only once time in most of cases. But for safer side get the chromosomal testing or genetic testing to prevent complication in future.
Try for conceiving after getting 3-4 normal menstruation.
