Should I Be Worried About The Yellow Fluid Discharge From The Ear? Suggest Medication

One day I had severe right ear pain so consulted General Physician because of unavailabity of ENT Specialist he prescribed medicines (Ear drops & tablets) then pain went off. Same day in the evening there was a blood discharge from my ear, then it stopped with yellowish thin liquid discharging from my ear, the very next day I consulted ENT. He told there is infection, hole in ear drum & presribed ear drops & some antibiotics, I am in medication since 4-5days still i have yellowish liquid coming out from my ear. Is that serious..?? (I think its 50% better compared to earlier) , How long it will take to heal up..? Plzz educate me here I am affraid of it..

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain yellowish discharge from ear is the infectious fluid that is formed in ear due to infection and as it will get drained off you will get relieved of infection soon..
Hole or perforation in eardrum seems to be happening due to chronic infection and small perforations can very well get healed with a course of antibiotics and painkillers..
I would suggest you to continue taking the medication and in case if you are having a continuous flow of fluid you can consult your ENT physician back and he can do manual drainage of the fluid so that the discomfort will be resolved as well as your infection will heal faster..
You should also avoid excess water exposure to ear like swimming..
You should avoid exposure to very loud sounds..
Do not pick the ear as it can further injure your ear drum..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
