Should Hysterectomy Be Done For Severe Menstrual Bleeding, Cramps And Anemia?

I m a 35 year old woman. I have my tubes tied and my husband had a vasectomy and our kids our teenagers. I have severe bleeding and cramps with my period as well as severe anemia. My period occurs every 18 days. Can I request a hysterectomy from my doctor and will he say yes?

Hello madam, from the history you have given, well hysterectomy can be adviced only after a complete history and detail examination. The cause of bleeding has to be evaluated and since you said you have severe anaemia, your haemoglobin has to be corrected first. And your age factor is most important, since you are only 35, surgical hysterectomy may cause other side effects like early onset osteoporosis, for which you may require hormonal supplements..i would suggest you to consult your gynaecologist, as I said after detail history and examination, correcting your anaemia, if necessary they may start medical management, if in case medical management does not help, then surgery may be planned...hope i was helpful to you.
