Should A Blood Test Be Done To Confirm A Pregnancy?

I believe that I am 6weeks pregnant i have all the symptoms but my pregnancy test come up negative.. should I take a blood test to know for sure? My body has NEVER done this before. I'm bloated but still not showing. I weigh 100 pounds so this could be why..I also stopped taking my bc pils in Nov. could this be hormonal imbalance or pregnancy? I'm 19 and this will be my first child. I have had vaginal bleeding last month. My tummy is rumbling a lot and when my husband puts his hand on my tummy it moves like a heart beat. Im scared that I might be about 4months instead of 6weeks.

Hallow Dear,

By 6 weeks duration of pregnancy, the urine pregnancy test is definitely reliable and does not require endorsement by any other means. Your pregnancy test is negative, hence you are unlikely to be pregnant.

Moreover, at 6 weeks duration of pregnancy heart beats are not audible or palpable. In fact the uterus in entirely pelvic organ and cannot be felt abdominally. Even at 4 months duration, the neither foetal movements not foetal heart sounds can be palpated abdominally by hand; however the enlarge uterus can be very easily palpable. There no mention of enlarge uterus in your history.

Sounds from your abdomen and feeling of bloating seem to be due to hypermotility of the intestines which could be due to gastro-intestinal disturbances like indigestion. Plain soda would give you relief from this.

Still if you want confirmation of your pregnancy status, I would advise you to go for ultrasonography instead of blood testing for hCG evaluation. Whether 6 weeks or 4 months, it would definitely give direct visual reliable evidence.

Missed period without pregnancy can be managed by some Progestational preparation like Deviry. Take them for 5 days; 4-7 days later, you should get withdrawal bleeding. If you do not, please report to the Gynaecologist.

Madam, you are 19 years young. At this age, irregularity in menses is known to occur due to Thyroid dysfunction. So if your menstrual irregularity persists, please get your blood checked for Thyroid Function Test (T3, T4 & TSH).

I hope this helps you today.
