Should I Continue Taking Betahistine Dihydrochloride For Hearing Loss After Cough And Cold?

I was having cold and cough for last about two weeks. Five days back, I started getting vertigo and loss of hearing in my right ear. Would like to mention here that I had a mastoid bone surgery long back in my left ear due to which I have about 10% hearing in my left ear. I consulted an ENT specialist who cleaned wax and prescribed me a course of anti biotics. I have completed the three day antibiotic course, but there is no improvement in hearing. The doctor told me that it may take 15 days to a month before normal hearing is restored. I have been asked to keep on taking Betahistine dihydrocloride for about a month and stop all the other medicines. I would like second opinion about the issue

Welcome to HCM.
If there is no improvement in hearing then you to consult you doctor again and review your condition and medication.
I think you have to take nsaid with decogestant .
Continue antibiotic for at least 7 to 10 days.
Continue betahistidine for vertigo.
If required go for further investigations like ct-scan.
Avoid exposure to cold or put ear plug during exposure.
Avoid cold drinks,ice creams,oily food.
Avoid swimming exercise if you are doing.
Take proper local care of ear.
Keep in touch with your doctor.
