Severe Migraine, Shortness Of Breath. On Paxil, Lexapro, Vistaril, Xanax. Gave Morphine Through IV In Emergency Room. Risks?

I went to the emergency room the other night for a horrible migraine. I am currently trying to get off Paxil. I am taking 5mg Paxil, 10 mg Lexapro, 50 mg Vistaril twice a day and take Xanax as needed. I took .5mg Xanax before I went into the ER and they gave me morphine through an IV. Are their any risks with mixing morphine and Xanax? I don't know if I was having anxiety, but I was short of breath(which happens to me when I have panic attacks). Do you think it was from the combination of the Xanax and Morphine together? Should I be concerned if i have I go to the ER again and they want to mix the two again?

Hi,
Both Xanax and morphine can affect breathing by slowing the rate and making the breaths shallow. However, as you were given the morphine in the ER, I am sure you will have been fully monitored so that any problems would have been noticed and dealt with appropriately. If you are in the ER again then I consider it would be safe to have morphine following a dose of Xanax.
