Scheduled For Hernia Repair Surgery. Has High BP. How To Relax It?
Yes, my husband is having a hernia repaired on Monday. He take blood pressure medicine already, He saw his doctor yesterday and got another prescription to reduce it faster. This morning it is 190 over 84. He has been worried about this surgery, and now knowing his blood pressure is elevated, it makes it worse. He is worrying about cancelling the surgery. How do I get him to relax about this surgery?
If the present medications that he is using are not controlling his blood pressure then his doctor may consider adding other medication to his present regimen.
Other methods of reducing blood pressure include: reducing salt intake- reduce the salt added to foods and also be careful using canned or processed foods which may have a high salt intake.
Use water instead of sodas and fruit juices
Limit alcohol use
Exercise
Use low fat products
Use foods high in calcium and potassium, these reduce the blood pressure.
If he has any hobbies or activities that relax him , then he should do them and see if it helps.
I hope this helps
