HI,
My age is 24 yrs I am an Engineer and I have to work on computer for almost 15-18 hrs a day. Last year I was having -.25 spherical power and -.5 cylindrical power in both the eyes.For this I was using specs only while working and watching TV
This year spherical power is reduced to 0 and cylindrical power is increased to -.75 both eyes.
Why is cylindrical power increasing? Is there anything to worry?
Do I have to wear specs even now? I can keep wearing them at work or I have to wear them always? Please answer..

A spherical of 0.25 is negligible and usually i do not recommend my patients to use the glasses for such a small number. On the other hand 0.5 - 0.75 of cylinder can be significant to some people who are sensitive to even a small change in the vision. Your cylinder is also very small and you need not be worried by it. As the refraction is a subjective test a variation of 0.25 is common between two successive examinations. If you feel comfortable without the glasses you could skip using them altogether. This kind of number is unlikely to increase at your age.
Having said that, you must take due precaution while using the computer for prolonged periods. You can look up "Computer Vision Syndrome" on the net and take the simple recommendations about it. You can also use Optive eyedrop 2-3 times daily for lubricating your eyes while at work.
